AWESOME NEW RELEASE OF THE DAY (#ANROD)
“I Won’t Be Long" by Beck [self-released]
About a month ago, it was announced Beck was planning to release some new music and couple of albums later on the year. Things promised by good ol’ Beck Hansen included an acoustic album and a proper follow-up of 2009’s Modern Guilt. Along with those news, Beck released the electro-jitter “Defriended.” Nothing much audio-wise has surfaced. Then, boom: in the inbox we call the internet, Beck dropped off another new one titled “I Won’t Be Long.”
Compared to his previous new song “Defriended” and its synth-play, “I Won’t Be Long” run more straightforward and traditional. Like the great tracks in Modern Guilt, jagged guitars and a snappy bassline provides the main melodies. It’s sounds more like the natural transition after Modern Guilt. There’s the outsider instrument noodling to keep it spacey and sparkly towards the end by Beck. He’s still refusing to simply color between the lines, and he is once again making the chaotic jumble into something more digestible.
There’s no word whether “I Won’t Be Long” will be included any official studio album slated for release. If you want to grab it though, Beck will be releasing it as a standalone 12” single. Beck fans will continue to wait impatiently but with “I Won’t Be Long” holding them over for just a little bit, it will probably do for now.
